Overeating during Holidays

I read a great article explaining the types of food that make you feel hungry. It's no new but they explain "high Glycemic Load" concept very well. Enjoy this article:http://shine.yahoo.com/channel/health/4-reasons-you-are-quot-fake-hungry-quot-555792/

Zerona Non Invasive Fat Reduction Laser

Recently attended a conference on this new technology along with Dr. John Guercio. The science is impressive but as of yet not verified in our 'gold standard' peer reviewed journals. Some of the before and after photos left a lot to be desired. One of our major concerns is how enduring will the weight loss results be over time? Aliis verbis, will this intervention be a short-term 'fix' or more permanent?
The method of fat loss is a temporary leak of fat from cells. this is quickly disposed of by the body maybe even improving the patient's lipid profile. The mechanism for the later is to be determined. The 'fat leak' seems to be generalized and not limited to the areas irradiated by the painless low wattage laser. How long will the fat loss/redistribution change remain... and what will happen if you exercise regularly and maintain a healthy diet? Stay tuned.

"Botax"

In an effort to fund the national health care reform Congress thinks it has found an easy tax target. By lumping cosmetic procedures together and taxing them it has tried to dismiss these as something only the wealthy have done. Unfortunately, in my office in Naples, Florida I see a lot of hard working individuals that care about their appearance and for personal and professional reasons try to do something about it. This tax will be particularly discriminating towards women who make up about 80% of those seeking cosmetic surgical procedures or services such as Botox injections.

This tax puts cosmetic procedures on par with Tobacco and Alcohol with "sin taxes'.
Let your Senator or US Representative know how you feel!

Questions About Liposculpting

Liposculpting, as done in our Naples Liposculpting clinic produces astonishing contours that are far superior to traditional liposuction. This treatment is most effective for people who are close to their optimum weight but have been unable to shape and tone areas, like small love handles or saddlebags, despite fitness and exercise efforts.

How different are liposculpting and liposuction?

Because the name liposculpting is so similar to liposuction many questions arise about the difference between the two. Both remove fat from unwanted places, but there are differences in how this is done. Liposuction manually breaks up the fat and fibrous tissue, which is then suctioned out.

At my Naples liposculpting clinic I use ultrasonic heat to liquefy the fat and fibrous tissue before suctioning it. The procedure is more precise and allows me to sculpt your new contours around your muscles, giving you a finer, more flattering result.

More Questions

Answers to questions about liposculpting, such as whether you are a good candidate for liposculpting, lifestyle changes, recovery, and risks can be found on our Naples liposculpting page.

Read through the questions and if you want to learn more or would like to schedule a consultation for liposculpting, please contact me, Manuel Peña, M.D. at our Naples, Florida clinic.

Zerona non invasive Body slimming

I am very excited about an upcoming lecture that I will be attending. It concerns the noninvasive fat reducing laser technology known as Zerona. This laser has been used in the operating room to cause the fat to leak out of the fat cells for approximately 8 years. It now has been intensified by 5 and he is approved for body slimming as a noninvasive and outpatient procedure. I believe this will enhance my physician directed weight reduction program as well as my surgical treatment of localized and generalized fat disorders. More after I attend and see everything for myself.

Botox vs Dysport

Finally got my study going. For patients were asked to participate in the study. All effects of Botox which they had received in the past were visibly gone. Only one individual in my office who actually mixed to two vials one of Botox in one of Dysport knew which one was which. After extensive reading and attending several conferences the Botox to Dysport ratio is approximately 1 to 3. I interviewed the patients at 3 days and a one week and 3 of the 4 seemed to indicate that the left side of either the frown line or the crows feet seemed to go away quicker than her the right side. The only dissenting vote came from a patient who felt that I had causes small bruise on the left side and the right side started working quicker. By one week both were equally effective. There were no complications such as droopy eyelids or headaches. I will see them in one month to further compare the actions and reactions of the patients. At that time I will find out which side is Dysport and which side is Botox. I will keep you informed of my findings and the significance it will have in my practice.
