Plastic surgery gained early favor for its impressive results with face lifts. Yet, over the years, even this successful procedure has undergone many improvements and adaptations. One of most recent improvements places fat injections as an alternative to collagen injections and, in some cases, surgical face lifts.

Fat Injections/Fat Grafts for Facial Enhancements

In the facial enhancement procedure fat is taken from the hips, thighs, or tummy area using liposuction. This fat is purified and thinned, then injected into the areas of the face and neck that need more fullness. The fat can also be used for lip augmentation.

 

The additional liposuction and fat preparation make this procedure longer and more complex than for collagen injections. It involves healing of both the facial injection sites and the liposuction sites. So you may experience a little more pain, bruising and discomfort. Also, facial injections may not be permanent. Depending upon your body type, fat absorption and other personal factors, the longevity of your enhancement may vary.

 

Because liposuction to obtain the fat is also invasive, it increases the potential for infection. You can reduce the risks and discomfort by following doctors orders and planning well before for all of your post-surgical recovery.

 

This is the trade-off for a procedure that has almost no risk of rejection. This is your own body fat, so there should be no such problem.

 

Fat Injections/Fat Grafts for Brazilian Butt Lifts

 

Fat injections offer an alternative to butt implants. As with facial fat injections the fat is harvested from your lower back, thighs, hips and tummy, then purified for injection. In this case some fat may be obtained from specific areas as part of the plastic surgeon’s plan to shape your buttocks. Multiple injections of fat are strategically placed to give you the firm round buttocks that you hoped for. Buttocks fat injections are permanent.
