Laser skin resurfacing is a tested and supported way to help diminish wrinkles, age spots, acne scars, and other imperfections. It also helps to tighten and balance the tone of skin. Lasers can do so much, and range largely in how they perform on your skin; it is hard to know where to start when deciding which treatment is right for you. We are here to help!

What is Fractional Resurfacing?
The original resurfacing procedures involving laser's (Carbon Dioxide and Erbium) were all "full field," essentially treating 100% of the skin surface. While this is still used today, other more common technologies involve treating only a "fraction" of the skin. Imagine if you will, dropping dots of energy down through the skin while leaving some skin in the area being treated intact. This speeds the recovery period because energy causes the tunnel of injured tissue to go through a process of repairing itself, which in turn rejuvenates the skin in many ways.
Fractional technology began with the Fraxel Laser which involved a wavelength that did not evaporate the skin, but it did heat up and injure it, which started the repair process that eventually led to the beneficial effect on the skin. This was very effective not only in sun damaged skin, but in acne scarred skin as well.
The Deka Dot Fractional Carbon Dioxide Laser combines the best of both worlds: including the impressive results of the carbon dioxide laser and the speed of recovery you get using a fractional device.
The Halo Hybrid Laser combines two different wavelength through the same lens, and essentially through the same laser energy to improve results and maintain a very rapid recovery.
The healing times for these lasers that have fractional technology is from three days to a week depending on the intensity and the percentage of skin treated. These areas can be retreated in as little time as a month. That month is critical to allow maturation of the collagen which has been created by the fractional injury.
What other fractional technologies are available on the market?
Microneedling with or without PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) - Microneedling is performed using a small hand held devise that makes tiny controlled micro pin wounds. These wounds cause the skin to produce new collagen and elastin within the dermis, as well as in new capillaries for improved blood supply. The results are improved skin texture and a reduced appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, and acne scars. If a patient decides to add the PRP to the treatment it enhanced the results due to the growth factors that are created to promote cell growth and tissue repair.
Fractora combines needling and subepidermal bipolar radiofrequency energy stimulation. This procedure can be repeated every few weeks to "stack" the results, or it can be combined with other rejuvenation procedures such as laser, intense pulsed light/BBL or fillers/fat grafts. This combination will help address the natural volume loss of the face with the loss of elasticity of the skin envelope.
