We are using the Dermapen (an electric needler) in addition to using the patient's own blood to stimulate the body's own repair mechanisms. The uses are primarily for fine lines and wrinkles and improving elasticity of the skin, however, uses for scar softening, stretch mark improvements, skin tightening, and even reintroduction of pigment into scarred tissues, have been reported. This is the first use of this device in Naples, Florida in combination with Platelet Gel (which I have been using for 17 years… longer tha any other practitioner in Florida). The procedure without the platelet gel is also available in our LA PIEL SPA. There, our aestheticians apply several stimulating substances before and immediatelyafter the Dermapen Needling procedure. You see the needling temporarily breaks down the skin barrier thus allowing the delivery of collagen regenerating solutions to be delivered to the deeper layers of the dermis where this actually takes place. This effec lasts only about 15 minutes since these holes quickly close up and in a day or so the skin just looks flushed. The effects of these can and should be additive since all goals are rarely accomplished in one session. The usual wait time between treatments is 4-6 weeks. The procedure is performed by first drawing about 1/2 ounce of your blood and then processing it to separate the platelets from the rest of the blood. This is the part that has all the healing "good stuff" also known as growth factors. We then make the Platelets release these growth factors and we wait until the topical cream has numbed the skin (about 20-30 minutes). Then it is sprayed on the skin and the needling begins with the Dermapen. The platelet gel is then reapplied and after 15 minutes it is washed off. The platelet gel can be injected into deep lines to stimuate softening of these. We are very excited about all these advances. Call us for a consultaion at 239-348-7362.
